This lesson I directed a Dogville scene to show why I should be one of the directors in the exam. So I prepared everything before the lesson, picked scene 13 from Dogville which I rewrote to a minute length. Since we had to direct a minute scene. To achieve this I rewrote some of the sentences or moved them to different points in the dialogue, I also changed the location to the bench since I knew we had that already set up and I gave two props to the character Jack. Who pretends to be blind, hiding it with sunglasses and a hat. Which was inspired by Jack’s line “I don’t go out. The sun and my skin, you know.” Which I think is a made-up exercise so he has a reason to not go out, making it easier to hide the fact he’s blind. With the sunglasses and hat backing this lie up. I made a shot list for the camera operators. I also got two actors from my drama class to play the parts. So with everything ready, the lesson went very smoothly. I had ten minutes to set up the set on floor and 20 minutes to work in gallery making the scene. For the ten minutes, I spoke to the camera operators to explain their shots and answered their questions. In gallery, I then checked everything was working and went through the shots in order. Making sure everyone knew what they were doing and queued everything at the right time, which is what Przemek said I did well. The only problems were the mid-shot on Grace needed to be adjusted so the front of her faced the camera. So we told her to face camera 1 on shot 6 and 8. Also, I forgot to introduce myself from the gallery and write a floor plan. Which I will do in the exam. Overall it went really well, we got two great recordings of the scene.
