Creative Studio Lesson 3: Trip to Tinopolis

Updated: Jan 5, 2021

I went on a trip to Tinopolis and here are the notes I took:

· They write a report for the programmes of the contents and songs used to claim royalty.

· They have an achieve of everything they made which is accessible by everyone and can be used in future programmes. Edited with straight away either in low (proxy) or high res but most editors prefer to work in high res. All this content is connected to the ISIS online system.

· Many lights are used in the studio to provide the director with the tools they need to make their vision for the programme.

· Everyone works in the same building which makes it easier to talk to the people about the ideas for the programmes directly instead of emailing them. Which makes the work easier.

· They have to work on their daily shows and work with the producers on new commissions at the same time.

· They use Avid S Speed which can work on 4 programmes at a time.

· They also have an office in North Wales. Allowing them to cover content in all of Wales.

· They have two live programmes on a day.

· The floor manager works on an iPad which has the running order.

· The headphones used on set by the crew (including Floor manager) are noise cancelling so you don’t hear anything except for the headphones. You can’t hear anyone around you.

· Director ques the cameras in rehearsal to prepare. Cam 2 and 3. Also controlling the cam’s direction e.g. ‘cam 3 steady.’

· They do 7 broadcasts of weather a day. They stand on the right because the weather comes from the west (the left side of the screen) and they only cover the weather in Wales.

· The show (Prynhawn Da) we saw them make is a magazine-style show.
